My work explores identity, memory, and cultural inheritance through painting and mixed media typically drawing from my Guatemalan and Cuban heritage. I use symbolism and portraiture to help me examine how personal histories are shaped by family and broader sociopolitical forces. Recent work focuses on family structures, generational trauma, and the lasting impacts of colonialism and imperialism in Latin America while highlighting cultural resilience and adaptation. Through painting, I create spaces for reflection on how history and inherited stories continue to shape individual and collective identities.
